Vitruvian Human (2023)

Taking the symbolism of the ‘Vitruvius Man’ - as a representation of an ideal form - as its starting point, the dance performance Vitruvian Human disrupts and deconstructs existing notions of from. The production centers on the transformation of the ideal to new, individual models of a society without bounderies. Vitruvian Human breaks free from the constraints of idealized concepts and traditional gender roles.

Using an interdisciplinary approach that blends contemporary dances and circus, a female and a male dancer perform withing a set design composed of squares and circles. Two car wheels, actively integrated into the performance, serve as the point of intersection between these to disciplines. The symbolism of the circle and the square is explored through their constituent elements: the circle represents the infinite, the celestial, and the feminine, the square represents the finite, the eartly, and the masculine.

Interaction with the two car wheel allows for the exploration and questioning of human individuality, as wel as its redefinition in ways that are multifaceted and diverse.
